Nagpur Metro Rail would operate upto nearby citys

Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Limited (NMRCL) is ready to use existing railway track to run Metro Rail upto Wardha, Ramtek, Kalmeshwar, Katol and Bahandara. Passenger trains are being operated presently to facilitate passengers travelling daily to and fro. A proposal would be send to Railways for its nod.

A study was conducted by Metro Rail and was found that these trains were not catering to the actual requirements of the local passengers. The time consumption to reach the destination is more and the speed of the passenger train is around 40-50 kms per hour. Nagpur Metro has proposed to run Air Condition train of three coaches at the speed of 120 kms per hour between these stations to provide facilities to the peoples of Nagpur.

It is proposed that the Metro Rail will purchase four trains of three coaches each to run between these station. The trains will run at peak hours during morning and evening hours.

The stations will be developed as satellite towns in future and also save the loss o operation of trains of Railways. For this project railways will have to stop their present operation of passenger trains.

Government is planning to promote public transport so that the congestion on roads should be reduced.
